Moshe Binyamin
President
Moshe Binyamin, is MTI Instruments’ president. He oversees all of MTII and is responsible for overall strategic growth, finance and operations. Moshe Binyamin joined MTI Instruments in August 2019, and served as the head of Sales and Marketing departments. Prior to joining MTI Instruments, Mr. Binyamin was with Datto Inc. (formerly Autotask Corp.) where he served in several management roles including: Director of Market Management and Director of Strategic Programs. Prior to joining Datto, Mr. Binyamin spent 15 years with Pitney Bowes where he held engineering and product line management positions and directed the market and revenue strategy for the company’s flagship product which contributed millions of dollars annually.
Mr. Binyamin is a graduate of Vista Equity Partner’s exclusive HPLP (High Potential Leadership Program) with focus on Business Administration, Management and Operations. Mr. Binyamin holds a Computer Analyst degree from the Israeli Defense Forces.
Jessica Thomas
Chief Financial Officer
Jessica Thomas, CFO of Mechanical Technology Incorporated. Ms. Thomas has oversight of MTI’s budget and performance plan, strategic planning efforts, and financial operations, policy, and financial information systems for MTI. Prior to joining MTI, Ms. Thomas was a Director at Pregis, LLC, where she held various finance and operations leadership roles, including responsibility for project managing an SAP implementation and optimization efforts.
In addition, Ms. Thomas holds the positions of Corporate Secretary and Treasurer of Mechanical Technology Incorporated.
Prior to Pregis, Ms. Thomas was at Plasan North America, where she developed cost accounting and financial planning analysis within the company and gained experience working in the defense industry.
Ms. Thomas holds a BBA in accounting, and MBA from Northeastern in Finance & International Finance. She has also been a member of AICPA since 2005.
Ken Ameika
Executive Director of Global Sales
Ken Ameika joined MTI Instruments in 2014 to lead the Turbomachinery segment of MTI’s instrumentation solutions. In his current position, Mr. Ameika’s 22 years experience in embedded design and digital signal processing with emphasis in the areas of shock, vibration including a focus on test and measurement, as well as his experience in aerospace propulsion, energy generation, and turbo-compressor applications will not only assure customers’ needs are met but provide technical solutions best for the customer. Mr. Ameika’s responsibilities include analyzing customer needs, serve as a liaison between the customer and MTI, post-sales support, and define future technologies and instrumentation products.
Prior to his employment with MTI Instruments, Mr. Ameika served with DSPCon, Inc. (later the DSPCon division of CDI Corporation) as a design engineer, client services manager, and most recently as the director of sales for aerospace instrumentation and instrumentation systems from 2003 through 2014.
Mr. Ameika holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from University of Illinois, Chicago.
Peter Opela
Product Innovation Engineer – Instruments
Peter Opela, MTI Instruments’ Director of Systems Engineering, joined MTI in 2006 and leads the company’s engineering effort through new technological development and advancing the technology and functionality encapsulated within our existing products. Previously, Mr. Opela worked for Motorola in their CDMA and GSM cellular handset divisions and for Freescale Semiconductor in their advanced 3G chipset division.
Mr. Opela holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
Don Welch
Director of Engineering Emeritus
Don Welch, MTI Instruments’ Director of New Business Development, joined MTI in 1985 as an R&D project development engineer. Mr. Welch is responsible for new product development, as well as mergers and acquisitions. Previously, he was the engineering manager for Tele/ Resources a private business telecommunications firm where he directed PBX product development. Since joining MTI, Mr. Welch has held a number of positions in both corporate R&D and within the MTI Instruments division, most recently Director of Engineering.
Mr. Welch holds a B.S.E.E. from Union College.
Isaac Abbott
Product Innovation Engineer – PBS Group
In this role, Mr. Abbott is responsible for managing the future of the PBS line of products. This involves understanding technology trends, market dynamics, and customer needs and subsequently leading the engineering team through product improvements, feature additions, and new product development efforts. Mr. Abbott joined MTI Instruments in 2013. Prior to his role as Product Innovation Engineer, he held the positions of Embedded Software Engineer and Continuous Improvement Engineer at the Company.
Mr. Abbott holds a M.S.E.E from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a B.S.E.E from Cedarville University.
